More Information

Description ‘Emerald Blue' creeping phlox (Phlox subulata) delightfully welcomes spring with lush foliage and hundreds of blooms. This ground cover forms a low-growing carpet that spreads vigorously and adds color year-round. The flowers are so abundant in the spring; you can barely see the foliage underneath! Delicate, star-shaped blue flowers are fragrant and adored by butterflies. Though the flowers look delicate, this plant certainly is not! It's highly adaptable and able to thrive in challenging sites, including gravelly soil. Plus, it's unbothered by deer. Try planting in rocky areas, on steep slopes, or as a border, and it won't disappoint! Details Botanical name: Phlox subulata 'Blue Emerald'

Fertilizing: Generally unnecessary, but a slow-release granular fertilizer worked into the soil around the plants in the spring is sufficient.
Winterizing: No special care is needed. Leave foliage standing in winter, and clean up spent foliage in spring.
Maintenance & Pruning: Cut back stems after flowering by 1/2. This will maintain dense growth and attractive habit for the summer months. This will also encourage some fall rebloom. Cut out any brown stems.

Not Happy. Stop the 'canned' responses - Get personal

I ordered 5 Phlox plants back in May. 4 were fine the other (Emerald Blue' Creeping Phlox) was sickly. After submitting pictures, you agreed to replace the pant. I waited two weeks before you told me you were out of them and to select another color of receive a refund. I selected another color. Waited another two weeks only to receive another sickly plant. I notified you, informing you I was done doing business with you and tired of taking pictures of sickly plants. Never received a response.

Pricey failure

Arrived, as I unpacked they were nicely greem and healthy looking but by next day as I waited for appropriate time of day to plant they all had turned to straw color. What a disappointment, especially since I was to trying to fulfill covering all bare spots in response to a Community Association rule for my backyard citation. I left them in the ground but will have to toss them as they just remain straw colored clumps and yet all my already existing plants that surround them continue looking great!

We're sorry you're having trouble with your plants. Our team of horticulture experts would love to take a closer look! Please contact us at claims@greatgardenplants.com with your order number and photos of the plants so we can better assist you. All orders are covered by our 60-day guarantee. We look forward to helping! https://bit.ly/ggp-guarantee
