Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Received our Full Speed a Hedge trees. They were healthy, the perfect size and a good price. We had never ordered from you before but definitely will in the future.
I planted one last year and 4 more this year in a site that is mostly sunny. The soil is heavy clay and retains water. The one planted last year has grown 8-12 inches. It is almost as tall as a green emerald arborvitae I planted 3 years ago. All are doing well—we have had lots of rain this June and July in Michigan. I don’t normally amend soil when I plant shrubs, but I did add some compost when I planted these. They were root bound, but that’s better than weak roots. I teased the roots apart as best I could, especially on the bottom. I staked some that were a little bent and they are growing straight now. Would order again!
Bought 40 Full Speed A Hedge® 'American Pillar' Arborvitae, i bought 40 of these trees and only 3 out of 40 that are still alive. Spent over $800 on these trees thinking I was saving money going with this company but I could have just bought them locally instead and would have save my self time, energy and money. Sorry to be a negative person about this but when you have to dig 40 wholes and spend money on soil and trees and only 3 out of 40 trees happens to survive it kinda leaves you feeling very disappointed and drained.

So far so good. A few of the 20 we ordered have some browning on the tips and not looking so well but it's been extremely hot over the last few weeks. Keeping them watered and hoping for the best.
We are happy with this beautiful plant.
