Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

I got this in quart size at the end of last summer and planted before fall 2022. It has more than quadrupled in size this year!!! Love it and can’t wait to see it next year!
So disappointed these are plants that are basically starter plants. Pictures and descriptions are very deceiving. Will never order from here again. Total waste of money.

All the plants I have ordered from great garden has been great 👍 plants
My hydrangeas came in excellent condition. One even had a flower bloomed already. I’ve ordered plants from a variety of companies. Great gardens did a great job of packing plants and making sure they wouldn’t be damaged. I’ll definitely shop with them in the future!
Total order included 6 plants. Two plants were dried up and nearly dead on arrival. All plants were repotted into 6 pots with premium grow mix so that they could be watered and observed before planted out. All have died except Little Lime and Quick Fire. They are alive and growing and are about 6" tall. Thus, I have two small plants that cost about $36.00 each. I will be filing a claim.
