Description

Shadowland® 'Seducer' Hosta likes it hot, in regards to temperature! Large leaves are dark green with chartreuse coloration along the ruffled margins.  In the summer heat, bright white marks add an extra dimension to its variegation. This hosta needs heat to develop full coloration, making it a great choice for warmer climates. Hostas are incredibly easy to grow and maintain, even in city environments. The deeply corrugated leaves are highly resistant to slugs. It grows well in containers or garden beds. Find a shady, moist corner of your garden and watch it thrive!

How to Grow

Soil: Performs well in average to fertile soil.
Light: Thrives in part to full shade.
Water: Has average water needs, and once established plants have some tolerance for dry shade (particularly plants with thick leaves). In general though, soils should never be allowed to dry out.
Spacing: 3 feet apart
Fertilizing: In spring a light fertilizer can be applied around the emerging plant, but not touching it.
Winterizing: Foliage should be left standing in fall, this will help protect the crown. If desired a layer of mulch can be applied in a 2" layer very near the base.
Maintenance & pruning: Groom plants by removing yellow or dead leaves and cut flower spikes back as they finish blooming in summer.

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:
