Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Weigela is a deciduous shrub that has quickly become one of the most popular landscape plants on the market today. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular: weigela is easy to grow, deer-resistant, versatile, and has vibrant blooms that attract pollinators like a magnet. Here, we’ll show you how to grow and care for weigela shrubs and answer your frequently asked questions.
We ordered 6 pink sonic boom weigela’s and they arrived yesterday. The packaging was amazing! I have never received plants so well protected from shock of shipping. The box design is just ingenious. One of the six plants even had pink blooms on it, which reminded me of the azalea bloom! I unpacked all 6 plants immediately, used our tiller to amend the soil and placed them in the ground the same day and of course, watered them. I can’t wait to send an update in the spring! The plants are so healthy and the green leaves look amazing. I’m attached a few pics now (Nov. 2025).
Very pleased with the way the plants were packaged and shipped. I planted them and they are doing well. So far I am very pleased! Can't wait until spring!!
The 2 Pink Weigela arrived at the suggested time in good condition. Got planted 48 hours later and are doing great! Root stimulator was used.
Excellent place to get ur plants! Speedy shipping and plants are very healthy upon arrival!
Nice looking starter size plants but one is half dead and I can't figure out what it is dying from.
