Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Hummingbirds are fascinating pollinators who bring their buzzing beauty to the garden every spring and summer when they leave the safety of their nests.Their signature rapid wing activity draws a lot of energy, and they need consistent food sources to keep their energy high.
Review for 1 Qt Seven Sons Temple of Bloom and 1Qt El Niño Chitalpa. I live in California and it’s difficult to find Proven Winner plants. I was nervous about buying from across the country especially in June, BUT upon receiving my Temple of Bloom all fear was erased. The plant was carefully packed and even survived a delay in transit, getting caught up in weather issues along the way. I immediately placed another order for another coveted PW plant and that arrived beautifully too!
I currently have my Temple of Bloom planted in a pot and it’s recently put on new growth. I’m so excited and can’t wait to plant in ground this fall. The other plant I purchased at the same time is an El Niño Chitalpa and I am doing the same process as well as can report the same progress as well. My zone is 9B, temps have been around 100 degrees (+/-) at time of delivery. I’m not sure how they’ll do once planted in ground but I am hopeful! I am so excited to discover Great Garden Plants to buy my Proven Winners plants that I can’t find here, otherwise I shop local.
Temple of Bloom (round pot) El Niño Chitalpa (square pot)
Very disappointed, I ordered a tree and received a small shrub!
Costly both product and shipping..
I ordered 2, put them in 2 different parts of the yard, mostly sun and full sun. Both are doing great although one was getting eaten (rabbit) and I had to cover it with a mesh trash can while its small.
The trees came and were just what I had ordered. It's been about 3 weeks and new growth on all of them.
My plants where packed very well and were in great condition when they arrived at my home. I followed the planting instructions and they are doing well.
