Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Weigela is an undemanding deciduous shrub that is easy to grow making it perfect for beginners and experts alike! Beautiful to enjoy and loved by butterflies & hummingbirds. Plant Czechmark weigela as a specimen or flowering hedge and look forward to a spectacular spring display every year!DetailsBotanical name:Weigela florida 'VUKOZ90345' Patent #: USPP 28,970 Common name: Weigela Zone: 4 - 8 Sun exposure: Full sun (6+ hours sun) Height x width: 3-3.5' tall and wide Flower color: Multiple tones of pink Foliage color: Green Season of Interest: Spring Uses: Specimen, hedge, landscaping. How To GrowSoil: Grow in any moist but well-drained soil. Tolerates some dryness once established. Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day) Water: Average Space: Min. 4' apart. Fertilizing: Apply a granular rose or garden fertilizer in early spring if desired. Never fertilize weigela past mid-summer, as this increases likelihood of winter damage to any new growth the plant puts on as a result. Winterizing: A good 2-3" layer of mulch is recommended. Maintenance & Pruning: Weigela bloom on old wood so should only be pruned after blooming. Once plants are mature (after at least 5 years in the ground), you may want to remove a few of the oldest stems each year to keep it producing vigorous young growth. Note: weigela are one of the last shrubs to leaf out in spring, so don't panic if you aren't seeing signs of life even if everything else in your yard has started to grow.
Beautifully packaged allowing the plants to arrive in great condition. The three plants we ordered were planted after a 24 hour rest and watering. They are doing well with two of the plants producing a few flowers - unexpected so soon!
